Feng Shui Tip of the Month

Here is a good way to keep your money from being "drained away."

To the Chinese, water equals money. This is why you cannot go into a Chinese restaurant which does not have a water fountain, fish tank, or at least a picture of fish. This is believed so strongly that in Hong Kong or Taiwan, you will see wallpaper in what is known as the "fish scale" design and rugs which have the "rippling water" design.

If water equals money then a bathroom is an area which takes money (water) away from the home. To prevent this money drain, try to always keep your bathroom doors closed. When not in use, cover sink drains. Keep the shower curtain closed and close the tub drain. It is very important to keep toilet lids down (I know you ladies will love telling the men that one!). I did a Feng Shui consultation for a publishing company in Albuquerque and told the owners this. A month later, I was in their offices again and went to their public restroom. At eye level over the toilet was a sign - "PLEASE PUT TOILET LID DOWN AFTER USE - IT'S GOOD FENG SHUI."

It is considered especially bad Feng Shui to have a bathroom in the WEALTH "life area" of your home or office. I once knew a business lady, who had always been successful in every past endeavor, start up two retail stores in the area and after struggling for almost four years, she had to close both stores. Both locations had a bathroom in the WEALTH area and one of them not only had the bathroom in the WEALTH area, the bathroom was in sight, and in a direct line, to the main entrance door. The first thing that every customer would see upon entering that store was the bathroom door.

She did not heed my recommendation but I hope you do - hang a small wind chime (preferably with a water symbol on it like a dolphin, seahorse, etc.) above the center of the outside of the bathroom door frame. This not only negates the bathroom being in WEALTH and draining your finances, it also enhances the WEALTH area by having a water symbolization on the chime.
